What if I don't want a site showing up on my widget or map, or don't want links FROM an AlsoVille member?
You always have full control of who shows up on your site or where your site appears within AlsoVille.
To ban all connections to and from a site just use the 'ban site' feature on your "My AlsoVille" menu. Note that all links will be removed from this member and you will not show up in their neighborhood either.

After I install the widget on my site is that all I need to do to get backlinks?
AlsoVille is not about backlinks although the side effect of running the widget is a large increase in valid, useful, authentic and natural backlinks.
In order to get them you only need to write worthwhile content and provide other AlsoVille members in your catagory with backlinks. When you publish an article on your site include an AlsoVille backlink to another member in your niche. Doing so notifies them that you are qualified to partner with them. You can also reach out to members in the AlsoVille Social area and request a backlink from them directly.
Since AlsoVille is not a 'link exchange' it's important to understand two things.
1) When you give a backlink it's always a 'do-follow' backlink to qualify. Using AlsoVille Backlink Tool will teach you how to create them in your pages html code.
2) When you get your AlsoVille linkback icons (which appear on the AlsoVille member pages you write about), these are great placements and ways to drive traffic. They are always 'no-follow' for search engine compliance.
Also, the only way to earn AlsoBucks™ is by giving backlinks to members.
So just look up members in your category and when you write a new post find pages from your AlsoVille™ friends that are closely related. You will start getting them faster as your site gains popularity and rankings within AlsoVille™.

AlsoVille is not a link exchange or link scheme so yes. How do I earn more backlinks to increase my level?
By writing worthy content and including quality AlsoVille backlinks to other members in your category will get you on their reports and notifications. So the more you reach out and support like minded writers the stronger your partnerships and authority with other writers in the same niche will become.
If you have a decent network within AlsoVille and need a specific page to get mentioned from a larger number of websites you should also reach out and invite other sites that haven't joined AlsoVille yet. Then you can sponsor the new member site by assisting and training them and sharing your network. This is a very powerful way of creating a strong bonded partnership as well.
What are a websites requirements to join AlsoVille?
As long as you've been creating original worthwhile content for at least a few months it's worth submitting your site. Although we look at a number of factors when evaluating a websites 'quality' for inclusion, we primarily check to confirm content has not been spun, copied, backdated, or otherwise altered from another source, and that the site has been publishing original useful pieces for visitor consumption on a regular basis.
What happens if there is a reference link to a site I don't like or don't want showing on my site?
Simply submit a removal request. Removal requests can be for any reason and are processed same day. If you provide a reason that reveals a member has violated the Terms of Use, that account will undergo investigation and potentially removed.
Can I add or insert AlsoVille backlinks onto some of my older articles?
It will not get credited. If an older page on your site is indexed by AlsoVille™ it is flagged as a non AlsoVille entry. You also would want to write new content based on the page you are linking to anyway.
Once a page is indexed by AlsoVille to hold your settings, inserting links will not work. Trying to do so is also frowned upon and would probably get your account reported by another member as not being a relevant or current entry.
What happens if I insert the link on my page to a broken url or make a mistake?
We understand mistakes can happen from time to time if a URL gets miss-entered or miss-coded. The result will simply be non-inclusion or no credit for a linkback from that page.
If you realize you've made such a mistake, correcting the link will not fix this since by then AlsoVille has already indexed an entry for you. Instead copy and remove the incorrectly coded page (to avoid duplicate content) and create a new page with different title/URL and the corrected AlsoVille link to get your icon and AlsoBucks credit.
What if a member removes a link after getting the linkback credit on my pages sidebar?
If a member reports another member for missing links that account will be investigated and could be banned for miss-use. We aren't sure why anyone would want to do this, but make sure you've made up your mind about your backlink content before linking it with AlsoVille and you won't have any problems.
Can I put more than one AlsoVille link in one page linking to multiple members?
If you attempt to link to multiple members on one of your pages your account will only get the link back credit for the first member linked to.
Can I get more than one link on a page by creating more articles?
Good question! Only the first linkback to another members given page is credited. Creating multiple articles on different pages pointing to the same member page will not count after the first credit, nor will they show up. It's also considered spam and should never occur with AlsoVille members. If you happen across someone trying to do this, report the domain to us.
